These age groups A to F apply to all music, Instrumental and Vocal, and all Dancing.
L: Full Set Mixed over 35 (All members of the set must be over 35)
E: Newly composed songs in English & Irish and Newly composed tune & pipe bands.
F: Other marching bands & half sets (F‐under 18 and D – over 18)
Comhrá Gaeilge: G: Under 9; H: 9 – 11; I: 11 – 13; J: 13 – 15; K: 15 – 18
Age as on 1st January 2025: Example: If a person’s 12th birthday falls on Jan 1st then that person competes in the 12‐15 age category and is similarly applied in respect of the other categories.

*In all Duet and Trio competitions the instrument being played by each competitor in the ensemble shall be clearly listed with the competitor’s name on the Official Fleadh Entry Form. This competitor/instrument combination must be maintained at all subsequent Fleadhanna in that year i.e. ‐ having qualified, no substitution is allowed.

Rialacha Fleadhanna Ceoil/Clár na gComórtas 2022 applies:
This category caters for all instruments, on which the melody can be played, not catered for in Solo Instrumental Competitions listed in Rule 8, 1-13. Electronic, mains or battery-powered instruments are not accepted. In competitions for Rogha Ghléas/Miscellaneous, a a competitor may compete in one instrument only. In all competitions the instrument, and tuning if relevant, being played shall be listed on the official Fleadh Entry form. The competitor / instrument combination must be maintained at all subsequent Fleadhanna in that year. In all Fleadh programmes the competitor listings for Miscellaneous Competitions shall include the competitor’s name and instrument.

Re Scéalaíocht Competitions:

Please refer to Clár na gComórtas for Storytelling and Scéalaíocht 50 and 51. The rules are the same for both competitions. (pages attached)

In Rialacha Fleadhanna Ceoil Rule 50 Storytelling and Scéalaíocht 51 are separated. However the text of Rule 50 also applies to Rule 51. This is directly translated to Gaeilge in leagan Gaeilge of Rialacha Fleadhanna Cheoil. (copy attached)

Coiste Gaeilge advises that all competitors for Comórtas 50 and 51 follow the rules for Comórtas 50. The direction printed for 51 is an addendum to the aforementioned rule 50 and was put in to help competitors choose suitable material for the Gaeilge competition.
